EP Release: Saturnine

HAUNTED'S NEW EP
SATURNINE
OUT NOW

Haunted announce the release of their fourth EP, "Saturnine"; a collection of four tracks inspired by the faltering light, comatasia, and the ashen shroud that weds the bleak horizon.  A subdued cacaphony, a smear of clouds and light, pierced by stars so withered and decaying. For those of you seeking a slightly deeper sight into the darkling concepts and creation of the EP, here's a blog post I wrote last week.

Like Haunted's prior releases, Saturnine wavers between many sub-genres of black metal, tangling depressive, post-black and atmospheric influences into Haunted's distinctive ghostly style. With scattered rays of moonlight as the storms close in, this eclectic EP meanders between the serene and morose, oblivious, marcescent..

Haunted's entire discography, including "Saturnineare available on Bandcamp and Youtube for free / name your price download + streaming. Follow Haunted on Twitter for access to interdimensional travel.

Saturnine (EP) by Haunted - Out December 30 - and He Called Me Grey [Demo]

Greetings internet coven,

Haunted announce their return with a melancholy-dipped EP entitled Saturnine, to be released on December 30, 2020 via Bandcamp for free / NYP donation, with streaming to be available on Youtube.

Tracklisting:
I. Noire
II. Venus In Retrograde
III. Moonpool
IV. They Took Me To The Stars

After taking a lengthy pause on the project to regather my sanity and dissolve the ashen shroud of disinspiration, Saturnine was written and recorded between June - October of 2020 in response to an undying stream of worthlessness lingering about one's body, the feeling of falling between worlds and decaying in a dim web of stars and voids. With a much looser concept than previous Haunted EPs, Saturnine was inspired by bouts of entrapment and indefinitely-stretched moments of comatasia, subduing life into monochrome array of faltering light and bleak horizons.

As with all of Haunted's releases, Saturnine meanders the sub-genres of black metal, with essences of atmospheric, post-black / blackgaze and DSBM, bleeding together moments of gentle sparsity with cadaverous cacaphony on a venture to find some sense of nirvana within this free-falling Earth. *cue obligatory rant on unachievable perfectionistic standards of music production that cripple my sense of adequacy and shittiness (i will never be happy with the mix but hey whats new)*

He Called Me Grey [DEMO]
OUT NOW
Bandcamp / Youtube
The thick matte of cobwebs across Haunted's discography and social media is being dusted off; to all of you half-dead and starving critters that have been tangled in the abandoned web for the last year and a half - here's a new corpse for you to feed on: He Called Me Grey [Demo] is out now on Bandcamp and Youtube! A disparate track on hollowness and atrophy in what should be a flourishing place, He Called Me Grey is a song of labyrinthine sadness that stains the wholesome, while suffocating beneath swathing clouds of thoughtlessness and fear to think, lest funereal reality seeps back in again..

Thanks for all your support on Haunted's previous releases which are all available for free / NYP download on Haunted's Bandcamp, or free for you to stream / convert from YoutubeAs a small, self-funded, untouring and not-very-promoted project, the support from you coven of weirdos has been immense and I express my immeasurable gratitude to those of you who have been lingering patiently, waiting for a new release :) Here ya!

Cheers,
Hysteria

Dissociated Ramble on Failures

Hi internet,

Apologies for my absence from reality since Haunted's last release. I owe the coven an update post to shed light on the inner workings of the project amid its silence this summer, filling in some gaps I have been leaving.

THE MARCID SKY THAT GLISTENS
OUT NOW

Since the release of The Marcid Sky That Glistens, I've been struggling to find a balance of consistency and motivation for the next musical endeavour. Over the past months, work has started on a few separate conceptual EPs, concepts of which I have been proud and excited to work on, but something in my tangled brain has been poisoned and can't keep focused on composing. Whether it's the slow dissolution of my sanity or overabundance of real-world requirements, music has been sporadic and withering, started but never finished, flower buds dying before they bloom.

The silence between releases wreaks its torture, almost endlessly expanding at this point. You may have seen on Haunted's cobwebbed Twitter earlier this summer of my plans for a Chopin inspired release; playing on choking emotion through incredibly sparse instrumentation and atmospheres, weaving the washed noises of romantic melancholy into a ghostly, depressive, atmospheric black metal EP. Overwhelmed with ideas apparently too abstract for this crippled brain to comprehend, the music frayed and questions of what music even is in the first place took over. Cue a quick descent into why why why [endless].

Prior to my Chopin retreat, I had started writing a separate EP - a vent-release of psychosis and depression crowned with noise and burdening disorientation, an echo of leaking sanity and the dying embers of thought. "why am i still breathing" and "Noir" [both released on Bandcamp] would have found their homes here, were it not for my dwindling inspiration besetting like a plague, stamping ideas into the mud and crippling all that had been created. Returning to this concept again, the issues are maintained, and black metal starts to feel like such a dead end, but is it the music or my mind?

My sanity, my fleeing sanity, cutting trenches through my thoughts, severing the ends and stitching them to the wrong beginnings.

This writers block sinks deeper than more simple disinspiration I've realised; it feeds off any shreds of my warping sanity, leaving one so empty in its cyclical inertia of beginning but never ending, chiselling away at my skull. The foundations I build on have been rotting for some time it seems, and I have been asleep.

Of all the pieces started this summer, a few parts thankfully do glitter in hope, but tying these fragments together, smoothing out their clashing intents and fleshing out these highlights of my musical breakdown into a fully realised release will be a whole other matter. I'll be praying to the gods of consistency and motivation, lest a void be planted again within me to grow unwieldy, devouring from the inside.

I'm not about to start promising release dates I doubt I can keep, but I wish to curse you all with another release by the end of the year. Whether it will be just a lonely track or a whole, albeit disoriented, EP is still up for debate, but I hate the cobwebs left across Haunted's Bandcamp and social media, and the silence that mutates so deep in the rot. I hope the community can understand the fluctuations of my sanity and the effect it has on my releases, despite my scatty surface-level explanation. The rotting parts I cut from me always seem to evolve, infected, worse.

EP Release: The Marcid Sky That Glistens...

HAUNTED'S NEW EP
THE MARCID SKY THAT GLISTENS...
OUT NOW

LISTEN ON YOUTUBE
DOWNLOAD ON BANDCAMP

Haunted are excited to announce the release of their third EP, "The Marcid Sky That Glistens...", a three track release conceptually inspired by the polarity of life + death perceived in nature during early spring. The firstborn heating months, enrobed in pastel, are so fragile in their return to a still freezing Earth, as nature is cruelly reanimated into a poison-dusted city - a seemingly hopeless metamorphoses from death into life leaving one to wonder if the natural world would rather stay bound to its grey eversleep than be so heartlessly, cyclically resurrected.

Tracklisting:
I. Nest
II. Eyes Sewn Upon Her
III. ...And The Skies Were Washed With Lilac And Rose

For those who seek a slightly more in-depth look at the EP, here are the spring-flushed inspirations behind each track:
Nest is a soothingly dark take of home, riddled with claustrophobia and seething hatred. Doused in feelings of entrapment and the longing to be anywhere but here, Nest encapsulates the jagged, stabbing branches that circle one endlessly, like a crown of thorns laced with crippling monotony. The wanting to fly into a crumbling, tainted world so not to be mangled by one's own comfort..
Eyes Sewn Upon Her was inspired by the brief sight of a river through a murky train window; a river carving through the colourless towering tombs of London, whose fleeting vision seems almost a mirage amid the concrete thorns butchering the city. To gaze upon the river glistening beneath the pale March sun and momentarily be swept to an Earth devoid of humans, in equilibrium with nature rather than with stone.. Watching the fragile winter trees blossom relentlessly back to life in a city whose nights are tarnished yellow and whose venomous air is choking.
...And The Skies Were Washed With Lilac And Rose echoes the twilight serenades of a cloud-washed sunset, the pearlescent swansong of the sky as she fades into darkness; the delicate hues of the early spring sky, illuminated for the first time since the dense winter clouds beset.

As all of Haunted's work, "The Marcid Sky That Glistens..." meanders between the many wavering strands of black metal; threading droplets of depressive and atmospheric influences into an authentically eclectic and haunting style; starlessly breathless as hope is tangled with hopelessness and beauty is shredded into sadness.

You can listen to the whole EP here on YouTube. Downloads of "The Marcid Sky That Glistens..." are also available on Bandcamp for free / name your price donation if you wish to listen in an internetless nirvana. All paid downloads are immeasurably appreciated and all £ will be put back into music creation and printing merch for summer.

Thanks to the growing coven of you that have downloaded Haunted's last EP "Under Stars And Waves"; I didn't expect it to get half the response that it did and I appreciate the support unfathomably! After this release I will spend a week soaking in that post-birth feeling before continuing work on Haunted's fourth release which is currently due in July; a longer, melancholically cold and suffocating collection of tracks to cancel out the searing heatwaves that will soon be unleashed upon the planet. More details of Haunted 4 will fall soon... till then, I hope you tired beings enjoy the short cacaphonies of "The Marcid Sky That Glistens..."

The Marcid Sky Will Glisten... Third EP Update

Hi internet,

It's been just over a week since the release of Haunted's latest EP, "Under Stars And Waves", and I'm just here to do an update on the project as we do on this website, and chat about some eerie , spring-flushed things in the works.

Firstly thank you for your support on the new EP and the stand alone track I uploaded earlier this week, "why am i still breathing"! I honestly didn't expect either works to get even half as much attention or positive feedback that they did and I'm slightly overwhelmed by it considering how much of a cynical bastard I can be when it comes to my music. To be honest I hate the mix of the USAW EP, my mind gets drowned with the flaws, so when anyone shows positive interest I'm just like :) mad

I have a third conceptual EP written entitled "The Marcid Sky That Glistens..." comprised of three songs, but it turns out one of the tracks is an unsaveable mess so I'll be writing another soon to fill the void that has been left. This dreamy, blackgazey EP is conceptually inspired by the dying sunsets of early spring, and nature thawing from winter's frigid deathgrip, buried amongst concrete and other inner-city poisons. The third EP will most likely be released towards the end of May 2019 if the stars align as forecasted, after which the rate of releases will probably slow down as I hole away in the cold two a.m. darkness writing writing writing... The release date of "The Marcid Sky That Glistens..." will be announced on Haunted's Twitter as soon as confirmed.

After writing "why am i still breathing" part of me just wants to compose and produce embracing the noise and dissonance, borderline anti-music, instead of doing 'proper' music with some degree of quality. There's a small chance of getting a few more chokingly chaotic tracks similar to "why am i still breathing" before the release of the next EP but who knows what bullshit my mind is gonna pull next. If a sizeable collection of bedlam music is imagined, these butchered tracks will form Haunted's fourth EP, planned to be released by July.

In the next few months, some highly limited edition T-Shirts will be for sale on Haunted's Bandcamp if you starless beings wish to cloak yourself in the peaceful void - no more than 30 of these shirts will be printed. I'll hopefully also be releasing some patches and sticker packs by August, maybe some guitar picks and lighters (those merch printing sites are mad). I'm skint as fuck at the moment so bear with me while I round up the pennies lol. If you would like to support Haunted's endeavours, all name your price donations of Haunted's music via Bandcamp will be put into music creation and printing merch, and all are unfathomably appreciated! Thank you so much to everyone who has already bought the EPs and blessed this project with your kind support ðŸ–¤

Stay tuned via Haunted's Twitter for updates on literally everything, and subscribe / follow Haunted's YouTube and Bandcamp to catch all our bleak midwintery music as soon as it is released! Press releases and more 'formal' or long-form announcements and updates will be gathered on this site, as well as lyrics for those of you who wish to dissipate the whispering mist, artwork and possibly Q+As in the future!

Cheers

EP Release: Under Stars And Waves

Download on Bandcamp
Listen on YouTube

Hi internet,

I'm excited to announce the release of Haunted's next EP, "Under Stars And Waves", out now on YouTube and Bandcamp!

Tracklisting:
I. Under Stars And Waves
II. The Last Dim Light I Breathe
III. Sadness
IV. Leave

I wrote a longer blog post on the conceptual inspirations behind "Under Stars And Waves" last week, which you can read here, but to reiterate shortly, this EP is inspired by the notorious cliffs of Beachy Head (Eastbourne, UK) and their tragic legacy as a suicide hotspot. It is a place whose suffocating atmosphere has lingered with me for years, haunting my nightmares with nostalgic deathwishes and cravings for an ocean-washed ending. I wanted to echo the sorrowful vision of the last moments on Earth atop those towering cliffs, gazing at the endless expanse of breathtaking sea and sky while burdened by a much less beautiful mind..

Sonically meandering between the many wavering strands of black metal such as DSBM, ABM, and blackgaze, "Under Stars And Waves", like much of Haunted's work, is authentically eclectic in style, refusing to be bound to any set genre; instead threading fragmented influences into a moonless, bleary eyed vision of life under the stars and death beneath the waves.

You can download the "Under Stars And Waves" EP on Bandcamp for a name your price donation if you would like to support my strange musical endeavours. All £ will be reinvested into music creation and printing merch for summer! All your support is immeasurably appreciated, even if there's only a handful of you jumping in the grave I'm digging  💜 You can also listen to the full EP on YouTube here. Sometime in the nearish future Haunted's discography will also be on iTunes and Spotify - stay updated on Twitter to to stay updated!

I'm excited to release this one into the glistening aether and I hope you enjoy it  x

Under Stars And Waves EP - Out April 23

HAUNTED'S NEW EP
UNDER STARS AND WAVES
OUT APRIL 23

Hi internet,

Haunted's second EP, "Under Stars And Waves" will be out on Tuesday April 23! A small collection of songs conceptually inspired by the pearlescent cliffs of Beachy Head (Eastbourne, UK); their towering peaks suffocated by the sombre melancholia that lingers like wraiths, tired and drowned, and the sounds of the hushing sea so far below. Sonically, "Under Stars And Waves" threads elements of blackgaze, dsbm, atmospheric bm and a few other wavering strands of black metal into a moonless, bleary eyed vision of life under the stars, and death beneath the waves..

For those of you unaware of Beachy Head's tragic legacy - its soaring crumbling heights crowned with seas of wooden crucifixes have marked it the as one of the world's most popular suicide spots and sadly the UK's most popular destination. Lets just say I had an 'experience' atop the cliffs many years ago which has haunted me since; and the atmosphere that dripped in such sadness didn't leave, the clear air heaving under the looming clouds of death, bleeding all colour from the horizon.. to stand gazing at the beautiful natural world wishing to be blanketed by the glistening sea beneath - a beauty which is dimmed by stale longing, close in reach.. I wanted to capture the burdening, nostalgic haze of the cliffs which has lingered with me, and echo the morbid, fragile emotions as you stand upon the peaks drowned with everything you hate, staring at a polar opposite vision of the endless sea and sky, colourless but glimmering.. an EP made in hope to find peace with the worst moments of life and death.

That got deep real quick and I'm terrible at explaining things like this lol. To me, music is therapeutic and this EP was one of those vent pieces to empty myself of all the nostalgia and nightmares and turn it into something creative and slightly more beautiful. Trying to find peace through confrontation of the void.

Thank you for all your support on Haunted's debut EP "Bleak Midwinter" (YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP) released last week! I appreciate it immeasurably even if there's only a small number of you, a cult following is fine by me ;)

When "Under Stars And Waves" is released on Tuesday you will be able to listen on YouTube and stream for free on Bandcamp. You can download Haunted's discography for free / name your price on Bandcamp if you wish to support my strange musical endeavours; all donations will be reinvested into music creation and printing merch for summer 💜 I'm also on Twitter shitposting alone as a wise man once said.
